Kanye West Samples Sister Nancy & FirelinksSound system and Pop culture
Everybody talking about him right now and everything that goes on in foreign Jamaica gets the blame.
On Kanye West recently released album “Life Of Pablo” he has sampled Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam and Firelinks signature “tun it up” the latter was used on the most controversial song off the album “famous” featuring Rihanna where he states that he made Taylor Swift famous. Firelinks voice was used prominently on the track “Waves” with Chris Brown. Listen here Kanye West Life of Pablo (samples) Kanye recently used sound system veterans Fuzzy Jones voice on his recent hit “Mercy” and with Rhianna and Justin Bieber both having to rely on reggae music where does Jamaica and sound System stand at a time when Joss Stone a non reggae artist wins Billboard best reggae and Mc Trigger a non reggae artist wins iTunes best reggae over Jah Cure? however at least a real reggae act won a Grammy. Big up to Morgan Heritage even though just like Buju and Gong before them they are not based in Jamaica but the USA and the price of dubs stills goes up.
